British Airways and Qantas Open New Business Lounge at Bangkok Airport

Qantas and British Airways today opened their new Bangkok Business Lounge overlooking the gardens at Survarnabhumi Airport.

Qantas and British Airways Manager Thailand Julianne Rogers said the stylish and contemporary new lounge blends world-class comforts with uniquely Thai touches.

“One of the first things travellers will notice is the stylish, innovative design, featuring luxurious furniture from some of the world’s most renowned manufacturers including Morosso, B&B and Italia Vitta,” said Ms Rogers.

The new stylish and contemporary lounge was designed by renowned Australian-based Woods Bagot. World class finishes include Tai Ping wool carpets from Hong Kong, Florence Broadhurst designed wall coverings. Jim Thompson silk window treatments and wall panels combined with natural timber wall panels help to create a luxurious feeling of warmth and comfort.

“The new Business Lounge is divided into a number of dedicated areas allowing customers to conduct business, read, watch television, have something to eat or simply quietly relax.”

The new lounge features: * 11 ample shower suites, immaculately appointed with fine mosaic tile and timber finishes; * A choice of three different buffet dining options; * A dedicated entertainment zone featuring plasma screen televisions, an extensive choice of newspapers and magazines, café-style and lounge seating areas and comfortable leather banquettes; * A state-of-the-art business centre with 12 private workstations equipped with wireless internet access and high speed internet PC’s. In addition, complimentary photocopying, printing, telephones, facsimile facilities are available, allowing customers to manage their business whilst travelling; * Power and data ports located throughout the lounge enabling customers to plug in their lap-tops or recharge their mobile phones; * A specially designed lighting system which changes throughout the day, responding to the different times in order to minimise contrast and put less strain on customers’ eyes.

The new lounge area is 40 per cent larger than the previous lounge and the seating capacity has increased from 185 to 249 seats.

Meanwhile, the Qantas and British Airways team is also completing the final stages of construction on their new First lounge which is due to open on 11 May 2007.
